New for 2016:Audi

Audi builds on its slogan of “progress through technology” and introduces several newly redesigned models during 2016, including the TT 2+2 sports car and the 2017 Audi Q7 midsize SUV. In addition, Audi’s halo model—the ferocious R8 supercar—is updated this year as a 2017 model. For 2016, Audi offers peppier variants, including a powerful A8 L 4.0T flagship sedan that slots under the S8. Volkswagen Group’s premium car brand also continues to enhance engine performance, adds more standard and optional advanced safety features, plus next-generation MMI system technology for managing multimedia and navigation. Several models, including the A6, A7, and Q3, also have visual updates.

Following is an overview of new or updated features for each 2016 Audi model:

  • Rearview camera with park-assist system is standard
  • Aluminum interior package is standard
  • Heated mirrors plus auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass standard on Premium Plus
  • Keyless ignition is optional on A3 Premium
  • Connect system added to MMI Navigation Plus package on A3 Premium
  • Optional sport package now includes black headliner
  • New S line Style package and LED lighting package available on A3 Premium Plus
  • Active lane-assist advanced safety technology standard on A3 Prestige
  • Black Optic performance package and red brake calipers are a new option on S3
  • New exterior paint color: Ibis White
  • A3 Sportback e-tron plug-in hybrid with special grille, fascia, and rear bumper introduced
  • A3 Sportback powered by 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with electric motor and 8.8-kW Lithium-ion battery

  • Three-spoke multifunction steering wheel standard on A4 Premium
  • Audi Connect added to Navigation Plus package on A4 Premium
  • Bang & Olufsen sound system added to Technology package on A4 Premium Plus
  • 19-in., 5 V-Spoke wheels replace 19-in., 5-arm-rotor wheels in S line Competition Plus package on A4 Premium Plus
  • Misano Red pearl-effect paint available on A4/S4

  • RS 5 coupe and cabriolet discontinued
  • S line exterior design standard on A5 Premium
  • Audi Connect added to Navigation Plus package on A5 Premium
  • Bang & Olufsen sound system standard on A5 Premium Plus
  • Red acoustic convertible top is new option
  • Misano Red pearl-effect paint available 
  • Black Optic Plus package available with new 20-in. wheels for S5

  • Refreshed with new front, rear designs that include new LED headlight and taillight treatments; grille and bumpers; and trapezoid exhaust tips
  • New 2.0-liter TFSI engine produces 252 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with 7-speed S-tronic double-clutch transmission for front-wheel drive (FWD) models or 8-speed Tiptronic on quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions
  • Available 3.0T engine enhanced to produce 23 more horsepower; high-performance S6 engine now produces 30 more horsepower (450 total)
  • Next-generation Audi MMI infotainment/connectivity standard
  • Two new interior colors; four new inlays available: Flint Gray and Arras Red

  • Mild update for front and rear end with new LED headlights, grille, and bumper design; rear LED taillights and trapezoidal tailpipes
  • 3.0T engine enhanced to produce 23 more horsepower than previous version
  • High-performance S7 engine generates 30 more horsepower (450 total); sport exhaust system with black tailpipes available
  • Optional quattro AWD sport differential on S7 has been upgraded for more responsive handling
  • Two new interior colors; four new inlays available for A7: Cedar Brown; Arras Red

  • Dual-pane acoustic glass is standard
  • Extended leather package for center console and door armrests is standard
  • New exterior color: Mythos Black Metallic
  • Panoramic sunroof and new luxury, sport, and performance packages are now offered
  • A8 L 4.0T muscular variant introduced with bolder exterior, panoramic roof, and twin-turbo V-8 engine that generates 450 horsepower
  • New 20-in., 10-spoke star design wheels available on 3.0T, 4.0T Sport variants
  • Standard 20-in., 15-spoke high-polish wheels for L W12
  • S8 Plus model boasts 4.0-liter V-8, modified to generate 605 horsepower with 517 lb.-ft. of torque
  • New Florett Silver Matte exterior paint finish offered on S8 Plus
  • New performance, exterior, interior enhancement packages and more choices of 21-in. wheels in different finishes available on S8 Plus
