New for 2014:Acura
Jeff Youngs | Oct 09, 2013
2014 Acura OverviewFor those who don't know, Acura is Honda's premium brand, much like Toyota's Lexus, Nissan's Infiniti, and Ford's Lincoln. For 2014, the company has added a new flagship sedan, heavily updated its largest crossover, left a few models unchanged, and discontinued the ZDX.
Replacing the RL, the all-new Acura RLX sedan arrives with contemporary styling set off by LED headlights, a modern interior, choice of front-wheel-drive (FWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) capability, gasoline or hybrid powertrains, and EPA-rated fuel economy in the low 30s. That 5-passenger 4-door is complemented by a redesigned MDX crossover that also sports a fresh look, as well as high-quality interior purported to be quieter and more comfortable, several new features, available FWD (all previous MDXs were AWD), improved handling and efficiency, and enhanced safety.
Also noteworthy is the 2014 Acura ILX sedan's upgraded interior, newly standard heated front seats, and restyled alloy wheels.
That leaves the RDX, TL, and TSX, all of which have been carried over without updates for 2014.

In addition to the overhauled MDX, the big news from Acura is the debut of its new large sedan, which fills a void created when the RL was discontinued after the 2012 model year. Dubbed RLX, the company's 2014 flagship sedan sports a standard V-6 engine that delivers an EPA-estimated 31 mpg on the highway, advanced safety systems like forward-collision warning and intelligent cruise control, stylish and bright LED headlights, and an interior that serves as host to a pair of touch-screen control panels. Among the 2014 Acura TL's options are a Technology package consisting of premium audio, navigation system with a rearview camera, upgraded leather upholstery, and push-button start; and an Advance package featuring heated and cooled front seats, blind-spot monitoring system, and unique alloy wheels.

2014 Acura TSXLike the TL, the 2014 Acura TSX has been carried over essentially unchanged. This FWD model is available in sedan and wagon body styles, with power coming from a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder or 3.5-liter V-6 engine (sedan only) directing output to the front wheels. Base models are offered, as is a Special Edition sedan variant that features unique alloy wheels, rear spoiler and lower body kit, and a red-accented interior.
