With its already strong lineup of family-friendly, luxury, sporty, and executive sedans, BMW surprised many with the announcement that the 3 Series would be completely redesigned for 2019 as part of its seventh generation. Most of BMW’s focus for the 3 Series went to its performance, although the exterior also got a slight refresher. New to the car is a stiffer chassis, a retuned suspension, and a more powerful version of its carried-over turbocharged engine. Minor updates went to the 4 Series with the addition of standard features like parking sensors and smartphone integration, and the M5, whose Competition trim gets more agile handling and a boost in performance, while the 7 Series goes mostly unchanged a few years into its newest generation reboot. BMW gifted its 5 Series performance sedan with newly standard safety assistance features like forward collision warning and pedestrian detection, as well as some new packages that add perks like soft-close doors and heated front seats.
