2009 Mercury Ratings, Reviews and Awards
Right off the bat, Mercury's base model Mariner featured enhanced propulsion option in 2009. A 2.5-liter displacement powerplant replaced the 2.3-liter and is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. That same engine was placed in the Mariner Hybrid model as well. Mariner models featured a brand-new rear stabilizer bar, revised suspension for increased responsiveness, and low-rolling resistance. Eco-friendly features rivaled competitor's models with eco-seat fabrics, a cap-less easy fuel system, and standard cruise control on all models. Both the Milan and Sable now came available with the VOGA styling package while their compact sport utility vehicles could be equipped with V6 engines boasting 240 horsepower. The 2009 lineup also offered AdvanceTrac electronic stability control on the Mercury Milan, which was made standard on the Sable models. The 2009 Grand Marquis models now came standard with automatic load-leveling suspension as well as leather seating. With these upgrades, Mercury remained a premier entry-level luxury brand.
