2008 Scion Ratings, Reviews and Awards

When Scion was first introduced in 2003 as an extension of Toyota, its cars were very divisive. The Scion xB was practically shaped like a box, which appealed to some drivers and turned off others. In 2008, the brand introduced the second generation of the xB. It still had that distinct boxiness, but some of the edges had been softened somewhat. The 2008 xB was also somewhat larger than earlier models and slightly sportier, thanks to the addition of 55 horsepower to the engine. Scion also introduced the xD in 2008, a slightly less boxy, subcompact hatchback. The xD replaced the xA, which the brand had discontinued in 2006. A highlight of the xD was a customizable interior that let owners reconfigure the seats in the rear in any way they saw fit. The optional Organic Electroluminescent (OEL) Screen allowed people to set up personal "skins" on the dash, creating a fully customized look on the interior of the car.
