The sedan previous called the Montego has adopted the name Sable for 2008. Along with the name change, the large four-door receives a major styling and mechanical update that includes a 263-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission. Debuting with the 2008 Mercury Mariner compact sport utility vehicle is the VOGA package. Described as a runway-inspired appearance trim for the 2008 Mariner, the package includes a chrome grille and 17-inch chrome wheels on the outside. Inside, Cashmere leather seats and Ash stitching are used within the cabin area of the Mercury Mariner VOGA model. Flex-fuel compatibility is standard on all 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis allowing E85 ethanol/gasoline blended fuel to be burned by the sedan's 4.6-liter V-8 engine. Ford's SYNC technology has been rolled out on select trim models of the Milan and Mountaineer allowing hands-free, voice-activated operations of mobile phones. The Mercury Mountaineer is also fitted with a new Easy Fuel capless fuel filler. Mercury is out of the minivan business for 2008 with the discontinuation of the slow-selling Monterey after the 2007 model year.
