2017 Toyota Tacoma ratings and reviews

A mid-size truck that's been a segment leader for years, the 2017 Toyota Tacoma has taken things to the next level thanks to the reintroduction of the TRD Pro model, designed with the needs of the off-roader in mind, and the introduction of a V6 engine (which debuted in the 2016 model year). Engine choices include a 2.7-liter four-cylinder with either 2WD or 4WD and a six-speed automatic transmission. 4WD models also offer the option of a five-speed manual transmission. The second engine choice is a 3.5-liter V6, which has 278 horsepower (versus 159 horsepower for the four-cylinder). The V6 has a six-speed automatic transmission and the option of a six-speed manual on 4WD models. Fuel economy for both engines is surprisingly similar - the V6 gets 23 mpg/highway on 4WD automatic models while the four-cylinder gets 22 mpg/highway on 4WD automatic models.
