For 2009, Pontiac's G6 returns in its many forms--coupe, convertible, and sedan. Dropped from the line-up are power-adjustable pedals, the GXP Preferred Package, Chrome Accessory package and the exterior colors Ivory White and Liquid Silver Metallic. Four new exterior colors have been added, as have a G6 sedan Sport Package, a Sun and Sound Plus Package for GT and GXP sedans and coupes.
SelectBrowse ListingsFor 2008, the Pontiac G6 lineup is bolstered with a new, performance-oriented GXP sedan and coupe, which replace the former GTP for all but the convertible. The convertible is now only available in a single trim, the GT. Safety is also stepped up. Seat-mounted thorax side impact air bags are now standard on all models, along with anti-lock brakes. Entertainment systems are improved with a new auxiliary input jack for all models, plus OnStar. GT models now get standard XM satellite radio, and an 18-inch wheel option is new for the GT convertible. Three new exterior colors are offered: Cranberry Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, and White Diamond Tricoat.
SelectBrowse ListingsRedesigned in 2005, the G6 replaced the Grand Am as Pontiac's mid-size offering. It is again available as a coupe, convertible, and sedan. For 2007, the coupe receives a more powerful base V6 engine capable of 224 horsepower, up from 201 horsepower in 2006. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, shifter and brake handle are now standard on the coupe. The GTP's engine, no longer available on the convertible, also receives a slight boost in power. The GTP engine is mated to a six-speed automatic rather than last-year's four-speed slushbox. Side curtain air bags are now standard on the coupe and sedan.
SelectBrowse ListingsFollowing the discontinuation of the Grand Am, Pontiac released the G6 in 2005, hoping to recapture the market share for its midsize sedan. Two new body styles were unveiled in 2006, a convertible and a two-door coupe, alongside several new trim levels. 2007 saw major shuffling amongst different trims, but the base model remained otherwise untouched. Standard antilock brakes, next-gen side airbags and trim updates marked the 2008 model year. A six-speed automatic transmission was introduced for the base model in 2009, with satellite radio being made standard across all models. The G6 would cross into 2010 basically unchanged from the previous year.
