Ford Expedition Max Model Years and History

After a redesign in 2025 the Ford Expedition rolls into 2026 with minimal changes.

The 2025 Ford Expedition has been completely redesigned to help families make the most of their time together with new technology, versatility, and capability plus the all-new Expedition Tremor off-road model. The lineup has been restructured with five trim levels: XL (fleet only), Active, Tremor, Platinum, and King Ranch. The Expedition Max extended-length variant continues to be available on all trims except Tremor.

The Ford Expedition carries over into 2021 mostly unchanged. FORD Co-Pilot 360 Assist is now an option with the XLT and the introduction of a two row XL STX base model.

The Ford Expedition carries over into 2019 mostly unchanged, with a few enhancements for this year. The XLT gets upgraded seating materials, while Platinum trimmed Expeditions get chromed roof rails. Ford's dual-zone climate control system has also been uprated to a tri-zone system for 2019. A new special edition is also available which includes black, 22-inch wheels, a 360-degree camera, a park assist system and a tow package.

The 2018 Expedition has been re-designed from top to bottom and now shares aluminum chassis construction with the Ford F-150. This nearly sheds 300 pounds from the outgoing model. Additionally, gas mileage predictably has improved as well as a much steeper peak power and torque curve for even more ease towing. To go along with all the hardware and improved chassis is an all new interior that better conforms closer to the F-150 while offering new advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, automatic high beams, lane-keeping assist and alert and collision warning and mitigation.
