About S6

The Audi S6 applies a heavy dose of sport luxury to the A6 platform. Available in Europe since 1994, the Audi S6 was presented to the United States for the first time in 1995 as a sedan and Avant wagon powered by a turbocharged five-cylinder engine.

After a brief appearance in 1995, the Audi S6 would not return until 2002. Arriving only with an Avant body style, the 2002 Audi S6 was powered by a 4.2-liter V-8 engine generating 340 horsepower. Standard quattro all-wheel drive propelled the 2002 Audi S6 Avant’s tires on 17-inch wheels. The 2002 Audi S6 Avant was also equipped with a number of premium luxury and safety features such as a navigation system and traction control.

For a second time, the Audi S6 was dropped from the Audi line-up for North America after 2003 and would not resurface again until the 2007 model year. Presented as a four-door sedan, the 2007 Audi S6 received a ten-cylinder powerplant combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. A 435-horsepower, 5.2-liter FSI V-10 engine allowed the 2007 Audi S6 to achieve 0 to 60 miles per hour acceleration in just 5.2 seconds. Upgraded brakes, 19-inch alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights were included standard on the 2007 Audi S6 sedan.

The V-10 powered Audi S6 remained until a 2013 model year redesign. Featuring a new “Singleframe” grille and reshaped headlights, the 2013 Audi S6 is propelled by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine generating 420 horsepower. Mated with the 2013 Audi S6’s engine, a seven-speed S tronic transmission incorporates dual-clutch functionality.
