The biggest news is that the manual transmission has officially been dropped from the lineup, meaning potential owners will no longer be able to row their own gears. Thankfully, both the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and the 8-speed automatic are more than up to the task.

About RS 5

Based on the Audi A5 and S5 coupe, the RS 5 debuted in 2013 as an all-new peak performance model. Receiving considerable inspiration from motorsport, the Audi RS 5 receives power from a 4.2-liter V-8 engine generating 450 horsepower (117 horsepower more than the S5). The sensationally potent powerplant is connected to a quattro all-wheel drive system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. For additional sport handling, the RS 5 featured a self-locking crown-gear center differential. Acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in the Audi RS 5 was capable in 4.5 seconds whiles the electronically-limited top speed of the car was rated at 174 miles per hour. With flared fenders as well as a large diffuser equipped on the outside, the Audi RS 5 includes an interior that included carbon fiber and aluminum inserts. Originally arriving as a coupe, a convertible Cabriolet version of the Audi RS 5 was a 2014 addition to the line-up. The Audi RS 5 was discontinued after the 2015 model year. Auto racing fans familiar with the German DTM touring car championship would recall seeing the RS 5 name running competitively since the 2013 season.
