The 333-hp supercharged V6 is new to the S5 for 2013, and later in the year the 2.0T engine will be E85 flex-fuel capable. All A5 and S5 models now also have an electromechanical steering unit, for more precise control, with some feedback.

The sensationally potent powerplant is connected to a quattro all-wheel drive system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. For additional sport handling, the RS 5 featured a self-locking crown-gear center differential. Acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in the Audi RS 5 was capable in 4.5 seconds whiles the electronically-limited top speed of the car was rated at 174 miles per hour. With flared fenders as well as a large diffuser equipped on the outside, the Audi RS 5 includes an interior that included carbon fiber and aluminum inserts. Originally arriving as a coupe, a convertible Cabriolet version of the Audi RS 5 was a 2014 addition to the line-up. The Audi RS 5 was discontinued after the 2015 model year. Auto racing fans familiar with the German DTM touring car championship would recall seeing the RS 5 name running competitively since the 2013 season.
