2016 Aston Martin V8 Vantage trims

2016 V8 Vantage

The Vantage remains unchanged for 2016 though a manual transmission has been added for the V12 Vantage S. The manual unit is unusual in that it has a full seven gears and features a dogleg first gear. This means that first is off by itself, back and to the left, while gears two through seven are arranged in the same way a standard 6-speed would arrange gears one through six. The advantage can be seen at the racetrack, where first gear is seldom used and the more frequently used gears two through seven are arranged in a handy (and somewhat more standard) H pattern. Of course, with an extra gear comes more closely spaced ratios, which ultimately means more acceleration.

About Vantage

A British performance car created for two-passenger enjoyment, the Aston Martin Vantage’s debut for the 2006 model year marked a return to a V-8 engine. The first Aston Martin eight-cylinder powered Vantage since 2000, the 2006 model was created as an entry-level product in the brand line-up. Sold only as a two-door coupe in 2006, a soft-top roof convertible version of the Aston Martin Vantage was added for the 2007 model year. Engine power for the 2006 model was derived from a 4.3-liter V-8 powerplant generating 380 horsepower. For the 2009 model year, the Aston Martin Vantage received a larger 4.7-liter displacement engine producing 420 horsepower. The 2009 model was also given a more sport-oriented suspension system with the improved vehicle. A mid-mounted six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission were available on the Aston Martin Vantage models from 2006 to 2010. The two-seat interior of the Aston Martin Vantage consists of leather upholstery and is styled with a sport focus. In 2011, the Aston Martin Vantage line-up was redefined as the V8 Vantage as well as a new V12 Vantage.
