Toyota revived the Supra in 2020 to much controversy, as it used the bones of the BMW Z4 to build its flagship sports car. Now a few years on, folks have settled down, and commentators judge the car more on its merits than its name. Toyota introduced a new 4-cylinder version in 2022, and for 2024, the 6-cylinder car gains a new 45th Anniversary Edition that offers exclusive features in exchange for super-limited production numbers.

The GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition builds on the 3.0-liter Supra with an oversized, manually adjustable rear wing, matte black wheels, black GR brakes, and unique side graphics. Engine specs remain unchanged from the standard car, which means an output of 382 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. Toyota will offer the car with either an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission, and rear-wheel drive remains the only option.

Two paint colors are available, including one exclusive hue—Mikan Blast—a rich orange color that references Supra models from the 1990s. The other is Absolute Zero—a white color that works well on the curvy Supra’s body. Though it didn’t come out and say it, Toyota hints that the orange color is reminiscent of the Mark IV Supra seen in the first film of the Fast and Furious movie franchise.
To create the 45th Anniversary Edition GR Supra, Toyota replaced the car’s ducktail spoiler with a new manually adjustable unit that sits about 3 inches above the rear deck. The driver can change the angle to adjust downforce on the rear wheels, with more downforce adding more aerodynamic drag. Matte-black 19-inch wheels come standard, and a black Supra logo graphic runs down each side.

The 2024 45th Anniversary Edition joins a handful of other special Supras in recent years, including the initial Launch Edition, the A91, the A91 Carbon Fiber edition, and A91MT. It’s unclear how much longer Toyota will offer the car or if a refresh is in the cards. Still, the automaker’s continued investment in the platform is a good sign for enthusiasts. Pricing and more details will become available closer to the car’s launch.
