Subaru's 2008 model year product range changes are led by an all-new version of their Impreza compact. Offered as a four-door sedan, five-door hatchback and the Outback Sport model, the 2008 Subaru Impreza rides on a longer wheelbase of an improved chassis. A new Impreza WRX STI model provides the ultimate performance charge for the vehicle line-up with a 305-horsepower turbocharged engine. The 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI is only offered with the five-door hatchback body style. For 2008, Subaru has abandoned their poorly-received, aviation-themed front end styling explored in recent years by the Impreza and B9 Tribeca. The new grille is the least of the changes found with Subaru's sport utility and compact vehicle entrants. Known just as the Subaru Tribeca for 2008, the sport utility vehicle facelift is accompanied by improved interior space use and a larger, more powerful 256-horsepower engine. Styling of the Legacy has received a tame revision for 2008. The conventional Legacy wagon is no longer available in the United States market leaving only the Outback wagon.
