Arguably one of the longest-running members of the new crossover utility bandwagon, the Subaru Forester is completely redesigned for the 2009 model year. The new generation Forester assumes proportioning similar to that of modern crossover vehicles. Introduced last year, the Subaru Impreza line-up gains some heavy upgrades for the 2009 model year. A higher overall safety benchmark is set with the 2009 Subaru Impreza thanks to the standardization of four-wheel disc braking and Vehicle Dynamics Control on all models. A new 2.5GT version of the Impreza introduces a 224-horsepower turbocharged powerplant to the vehicle's standard range. The performance-tuned Impreza WRX receives a 41-horsepower boost for 2009 for a total 265 horsepower. A base Legacy 3.0 R is added to the 2009 Subaru line-up while the premium-appointed, L.L. Bean edition of the Subaru Outback has been dropped. Electronic stability control is added to both the Subaru Legacy as well as the Outback.
