For nearly 90 years, Mercedes-Benz coupes have exposed the German brand's mastery of personal luxury and performance. The SSK, 550K and the 300 SL Gullwing are some historic examples for Mercedes-Benz coupe production. The selection of coupes in the modern Mercedes-Benz model range remains vibrant starting with the C-Class coupe and the SLK roadster. Larger two-door coupe models are also offered in the form of the E-Class and S-Class as well as the convertible SL-Class. Since 2005, Mercedes-Benz has employed the styling philosophy seeing a coupe as something other than a vehicle with two doors. The CLS four-door coupe features a sportier styling and a sleeker roof line than what is traditionally found on sedans. Mercedes-Benz later added the smaller CLA based on the same principles of the CLS.
