2007 XC90

Volvo changed the engine lineup in the XC90 for 2007. Instead of offering a version of the long-running turbo-charged 2.5L, a 3.2L inline-six that generates 235 horsepower is now standard. This engine is available with either front- or all-wheel drive, and it is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The same 4.4L V8 that first appeared on the 2004 XC90 continues to be optional with all-wheel drive. In addition, the XC90's exterior has been mildly reworked. An optional blind spot information system enhances the safety level of one of the safest SUVs on the road.

About XC90

The XC90 arrived at showroom floors in 2003, offering a compact and sleek, luxury SUV that boasted a long list of safety features and desirable creature comforts. In 2004, the wheels and the tires were upgraded and a new color option, Ice White, was added. No changes occurred in 2005. But in 2006, Volvo discontinued the turbocharged inline six engine. An all-wheel-drive system was introduced as was the Ocean Race Edition V8 model. The 2007 XC90 got an updated exterior body style, with a tire-pressure monitoring system and an MP3 player input jack added as standard features.

An auto-dimming rearview mirror was added as a standard feature in 2008, with a Special Edition trim debuting. In 2009, the V8 Sport model was dropped from the lineup, with some tweaks being made to trim levels. Standard third-row seats, smoother handling and the addition rear parking assist rounded out the updates for 2010. Bluetooth integration and satellite radio were made standard in 2011. The popular V8 engine was dropped in 2012, with minor updates to trim levels. LED running lights and tail lamps, an updated interior cabin and a slightly refreshed exterior marked the only changes for 2013-2014.
