The Volvo XC60 was significantly updated for 2014. For 2015, more changes follow, including two new 2.0L 4-cylinder engines. In the XC60 T5 Drive-E model, the engine is turbocharged and produces 240 horsepower and 258 ft-lb. of torque. In the XC60 T6 Drive-E, the new powerplant is both turbocharged and supercharged, producing 302 horsepower and 295 ft-lb of torque. Both engines are mated to a new 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission and both benefit from new Start/Stop technology. In the T5, the new engine is EPA-rated at 24 mpg city and 31 mpg on the highway. In the T6, the figures dip to 22 mpg / 30 mpg. Across the lineup, Premier Plus trim adds power retractable outside mirrors.

The Volvo XC60 has been updated inside and out for 2014. A new front end looks more mature and now features LED light strips in the bumper. Much of the black plastic has been removed from the exterior, in favor of body colored accessories. In addition, a chrome strip has been added along the side, emphasizing the horizontal lines of the vehicle. The headlights are also new for 2014 and go a long way towards significantly updating the look of the vehicle. Inside, new seats are more supportive than in years past, while much of the interior trim has been revised, allowing for a more upscale feeling. Also new for 2014 are a set of optional sports seats, which add even more lateral support for drivers and passengers while cornering.

The Volvo XC60 sees minor changes for 2013. Among them is a standard windshield rain sensor as well as headlight washers. New to the lineup is the XC60 Inscription, which features a host of interior luxury appointments not found on the other trim levels, including full semi-aniline leather upholstery in one of four colors, special embroidered headrests, and more. Outside, the Inscription is distinguished by special effect paint and 20-inch wheels.

Volvo revised their trims for the XC60. It now comes in Premier, Premier Plus, Platinum and R-Design models. The R-Design's engine has been tuned to make 25 more horsepower over last year.

The R-Design is now available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel variants. Otherwise, the 2011 XC60 is virtually unchanged from the 2010 model.

For 2010, the XC60 is all new. Standard features include a 281-horsepower turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission. LED taillights are used, and Volvo's new City accident avoidance system is also standard, which uses the brakes to automatically stop the car when an imminent rear-end collision is detected. Two new colors are available: Lime Grass Green Pearl and Terra Bronze Pearl. Each can be had with Volvo's new unique "off black" leather interior with matching accents.
