About Xterra

Based upon the popular design of a midsized pickup truck, the Xterra compact SUV by Nissan was released in 2000, offering a powerful V6 engine and plenty of features. Newly redesigned alloy wheels and minor tweaks to trim levels and options were the only changes for 2001. A revamped front end, new (optional) supercharged V6 engine, an updated gauge cluster, updated upholstery, new climate control and a larger glove box graced the 2002 model year.

In addition, added standard features now included: two-stage front airbags, child seat anchors and updated wipers in the front and back. In the 2003 Xterra, the V6 engine got a slight bump in power, and there was major shuffling with the trim levels. No major changes were in store for 2004, with a brand new design being unveiled in 2005 that offered a roomier interior and a beefed-up engine. The base model X debuted in 2006, and a locking and lit glove box was made standard. Model years 2007-2009 only saw subtle changes to trim levels. 2010 saw a host of previously optional features made standard across the board. No major changes were in store for 2011-2012. But in 2013, an upgraded audio system was added with USB integration.
