The 2018 Nissan GT-R receives a new lower priced "Pure" trim model and Apple CarPlay as standard equipment across the board. A new Kuro Night trim color option is available for the Premium Interior Package.

The Nissan GT-R receives extensive updates for the 2017 model year. The exterior design updates include a new hood, grille and front bumper, which improve airflow and aerodynamics. The chassis receives some structural updates, increasing torsional rigidity, which in turn improves handling. The GTR also sees an additional 20 horsepower out of its V6 engine, thanks to updates to the engine software. Inside the GT-R, several improvements are made, including a new 8-inch touchscreen, updated dash design and steering wheel mounted shift paddles.

2016 sees the introduction of a 45th Anniversary Special Edition GT-R. The Anniversary Edition car comes with a commemorative plaque on the center console and the cars will be painted in a unique gold color. Fewer than 30 Anniversary editions will be available in North America. The GT-R also gets a brand new 20-inch wheel design for 2016.

For 2015, Nissan's all-conquering GT-R features a recalibrated suspension for improved handling. Also new are LED headlights, a carbon fiber trunk lid on Track Edition models, and improved interior sound deadening in all models, with Bose Active Noise Cancellation standard. A new model also joins the lineup -- the 600-horsepower GT-R NISMO.

Last year, the GT-R received major updates to its engine. This year, the main developments have been to the interior, with the availability of a new premium interior. Featuring contrasting red accents and hand stitched leather, the optional interior is available on the black edition GT-R. Nissan has given the engine a couple of updates as well, though horsepower remains set at 545. New fuel injectors and a new oil pan help improve throttle response and midrange torque, further improving performance.

For 2013, the Nissan GT-R gets another power boost from its twin-turbo V6 engine; this year it's up to 545 horsepower, up from 530 last year and 485 the year before, due to increased intake efficiency, better airflow to the intercooler, and improved exhaust efficiency. Additionally, the transmission has been refined and the suspension retuned. Inside, front seat support and comfort are much improved.

For 2012, the Nissan GT-R is getting a power boost from its twin-turbo V6 engine; this year it's at 530 horsepower, up from 485 last year, due to some breathing and turbocharging improvements. Also for 2012, stability is improved through improved aerodynamics and increased downforce--which also increases high-speed stability. The GT-R's front and rear fascias have also been redesigned, with the rear one resculpted entirely. Front LED running lamps have been added as well, and inside, the GT-R gets upgraded materials and new carbon-fiber trim. New 20-inch wheels, designed by RAYS, are also added to the package. Two new colors--Deep Blue Pearl and Jet Black--have been added to the lineup. In the U.S., the GT-R remains available only at special 'GT-R Certified' dealerships.

The all-new GT-R came to the U.S. in 2009, and it continues to be extremely impressive for 2011. It continues to offer a 3.8L twin-turbocharged DOHC V6 engine that can generate 485 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque. The GT-R is now only available in one trim level, with automatic wipers, automatic headlights, iPod, Bluetooth and DVD capabilities standard. The suspension has been slightly retuned, with stiffer rear bushings and a double layer of clearcoat has been added to the front and rear fascias. The wheels now have darker center caps and extra cooling ducts have been added to the rear floor. No-cost options include the Cold Weather Package and the Ultra-High-Performance Tire Pack.

A six-speed manual with automatic modes and paddle shifters gives drivers complete control. The cockpit is all business, yet provides several amenities to keep its occupants comfortable as they hurl themselves across the highways. Six colors are available: Super Silver, Gun Metallic, Titanium, Ivory Pearl, Solid Red, and Black Obsidian. The 2009 Nissan GT-R will come in two models--Base and Premium. Pricing ranges from $69,850 to $71,900, and the Super Silver paint adds $3,000.
