About Mirage

The 1998 Mirage offered a new and longer-lasting starter and battery to counter issues that were long lamented by customers. A new deck lid and new taillights as well as new seat upholstery graced the 1999 edition, with a few changes made to the trims. In 2000, a more powerful 1.8-liter engine was introduced. Some major shuffling to the trim levels for the DE trims also took place. From 2001 on, tethered anchors for child seats became standard in all Mirages. A powered sunroof was now offered in the Sport Package, and some updates to the various trims were made. In 2002, the Mirage was discontinued in favor of the Lancer, with the carmaker carrying on the tradition in the form of the Mirage Coupe.
