Mazda Protege5 Model Years and History

The Protege 5 sports wagon was announced in 2002, offering a seductive style, Mazda-specific features and a perky 2.0-liter Inline four-cylinder engine that could produce 130 horsepower. The 2003 model introduced carpeted floor mats as the standard and a brand new sunroof. The Laser Blue Mica body color also was added for this model year.
