For 2026, the fully redesigned Mazda CX-5 offers a more spacious and technologically advanced cabin, featuring a 4.5-inch wheelbase extension that significantly increases rear legroom and adds nearly two inches to the cargo hold. The popular Mazda CX-5 returns for 2020 with just a few updates. Turbocharged models now receive 10 extra lb-feet of torque, all models get a new key fob design and Mazda has made its i-Activsense suite of safety features standard. This means all models now feature forward collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and lane-departure warning. Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also included.

The popular Mazda CX-5 returns for 2019 with a new optional turbocharged 2.5-liter engine borrowed from the CX-9, plus new Grand Touring Reserve and luxury Signature trim levels. The engine makes 250 horsepower on premium fuel (227 hp on regular) and is available in Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trims. The CX-5 features new dampers and front suspension geometry, plus Mazda's G-Vectoring Control Plus, which improves steering response by altering engine output to change the dynamics of the vehicle in corners. Finally, Apple CarPlay an Android Auto are now standard on all but the Sport trim.

After a redesign last year, the Mazda CX-5 returns for 2018 with more standard features. Chief among these is a new cylinder deactivation system, which works by shutting down two of the four cylinders in the Mazda's engine when to save fuel when cruising on the highway. The system promises to be seamless and should improve fuel economy. Other new standard features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob as well as a some new safety features such as a blind spot monitoring system and a rear cross-traffic alert system. The rear seats are inviting, the cabin quieter and the ride has less torso-sway. Among the new standard features for 2017 are LED headlights and daytime running lights, rearview camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, noise-isolating windshield, 7-inch touchscreen with Mazda Connect and HMI Commander and Bluetooth and G-Vectoring Control which is an innovative technology that adjusts engine torque electronically to improve ride and handling. Mazda has made available standard or optional features such as a power rear liftgate, front wiper de-icer, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, 10 Bose speakers on the premium audio system, a traffic sign recognition system, head up display and a seat memory function.

The Mazda CX-5 gests a mild refresh for 2016 that includes exterior styling tweaks, as well as further refinement to the interior. A new grill and new taillights are the most obvious change to the outside of the vehicle, while the most obvious change to the interior is a brand new sound system. The Mazda CX-5 is more comfortable than in years past, with new front seats and revised suspension, allowing for a smoother ride.

Mazda CX-5 Touring and Grand Touring models get keyless entry and push-button start as a standard feature for 2015. Otherwise there are no significant changes to the 2015 Mazda CX-5.

Mazda has introduced a new optional engine for 2014, a 2.5L 4-cylinder, producing more power than the standard 2.0L engine. The new engine features much of the same technology 2.0L and should entice buyers who are looking for a bit more power and acceleration as well as for more relaxed cruising on the highway.

The Mazda CX-5 is a new model in the Mazda lineup of sporting crossover SUVs, slotting in beneath the larger Mazda CX-7 and Mazda CX-9. The Mazda CX-5 seats five adults and derives its 155 horsepower from a new 2.0L 16-valve 4-cylinder engine. The engine can be paired with either a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. The Mazda CX-5 is a showcase for Mazda's new SKYACTIV-Chassis technology, which blends maximum efficiency with the sporting performance for which Mazda has always been known.
