Derived from the LF-NX concept vehicle first exhibited in 2013, the 2015 Lexus NX model range's premiere represented a highly radical impression of a premium compact crossover. A drastically bold, youthful expression of Lexus's design language, the highly sculpted body panels for the crossover utility invoked a sport car-like appearance. Along with the hip design, the 2015 NX crossover also supported a number of modern, cutting-edge technologies such as standard LED headlights and a wireless charging tray. For the introduction of the Lexus NX line, the new vehicle debuted with a turbocharged four-cylinder and a hybrid powertrain. The NX 200t introduced a turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant and an NX 300h marrying a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine and electric powertrain to provide fuel economy in excess of 30 miles per gallon. Both versions of the Lexus NX were offered with front-wheel drive or all-weather drive for 2015 and 2016. Starting in 2017, the front-wheel drive version of the Lexus compact crossover was discontinued making the vehicle an exclusively all-wheel drive model. For its fourth year on the market, the Lexus NX crossover will receive a minor make-over to the already sporty styling and standard Lexus Safety System + for 2018.
