Lamborghini Aventador Model Years and History

For 2020, Lamborghini presents the convertible variant of the SVJ, which was notably introduced last year at the Geneva auto show.

After nixing the base Aventador in favor of the 740-horsepower Aventador S last year, Lamborghini has essentially left the Aventador alone for 2019. It remains one of the wildest, most beautiful and exciting cars on sale at any price.

For 2018 the base Aventador is dropped in favor of the 740-horsepower Aventador S to take its place. The new flagship trim dubbed "SVJ" ups that horsepower figure to 770. Overall, roadster and coupe models receive improved aerodynamic characteristics, exhaust tuning and reconfigured driving modes.

The Aventador carries over into 2017 essentially unchanged. The SV version is now dubbed the SV LP 750-4, referring to its horsepower and 4-wheel drive.

For 2016, Lamborghini offers an Aventator unchanged from last year's model.

The Aventador carries over mostly unchanged for 2014. A new Anniversario style costs over $100,000 more than the base coupe and convertible. It comes with a more powerful version of the V12 engine, unique wheels and semi-aniline leather seats with special stitching.

The Aventador gets several revisions for the 2013 model year. The most significant changes are actually in place to meet a strange goal for a nearly 700-hp supercar: fuel efficiency. Cylinder deactivation and start stop technology have both been incorporated into the Aventador increasing fuel economy, particularly on the highway. Other revisions include changes to the suspension to further optimize handling and some optional carbon fiber styling tweaks.
