Jeep Renegade Model Years and History

The 2023 Jeep Renegade carries over with minimal changes, although the front-wheel drive models have been discontinued.

For 2022, the Jeep Renegade receives a few changes, the FWD model is only available in the Sport trim, the 2.4L engine is no longer available so all models are now powered by the same 1.3L engine.

For 2021, the Jeep Renegade receives many new updates, including additional trims and new standard driver assist features. blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist. Some of the new trims include 80th Anniversary Edition and Islander Edition, they come with unique interior/exterior styling and special features. The Renegade also now comes standard with the larger 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

After its refresh last year, the Jeep Renegade continues into 2020 essentially unchanged.

The Jeep Renegade returns for 2019 with updated front and rear fascias, along with a new 1.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine to replace the previous 1.4L four. The unit makes 177 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, and is standard on the Renegade Limited and Trailhawk and optional on the Sport and Latitude trims. The 6-speed manual transmission has been discontinued.

The Jeep Renegade returns for 2018 mostly unchanged, but it does get a few revisions to some of the trim levels and options. Jeep's Uconnect 4 system is now standard on Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk models, while the rearview camera has now been made standard across the whole range. A revised interior actually makes a little bit more room for storage with better packaging efficiency and new seat fabrics. In addition, the dual-pane sunroof can now be ordered on Sport models.

The 2017 Jeep Renegade introduces the Altitude and Deserthawk trims. The Altitude trim includes 18-inch wheels, badging, seven grille rings, taillamp surrounds, rearview camera, proximity key with a push-button start and a Gloss Black finish. The standard Altitude trim includes a 160-hp 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. Altitude upgrades include a 180-hp 2.4L 4-cylinder engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission or all-wheel drive with either powertrain. The Deserthawk trim includes a MOAB map on its hood, U.S. Army-style star decals on its D-pillars, and black-painted 17-inch wheels, black leather seats featuring contrasting stitching, the Trailer Tow Grow, rock rails, dual-zone automatic climate control, power front seats, a proximity key with push-button start, 4-wheel drive, 2.4L 4-cylinder engine and 9-speed automatic transmission, and four available colors, including the trim-exclusive Mojave Sand.

The Jeep Renegade was a brand new vehicle last year, and a few new features have been added for 2016. A new premium sound system is the biggest change, it features 9 speakers, a 506-watt amplifier and a 6.5-inch subwoofer. Additional new features include rain-sensing wipers and a few new exterior color choices.

The Jeep Renegade is an all-new model for 2015. Expected to compete against vehicles such as the MINI Countryman and the Chevrolet Trax, the Renegade offers something new from Jeep: a vehicle that is just as at home in the middle of the city, as it is out in the wilderness.
