For 2010, the 4.7L V8 engine has been discontinued. The Overland trim has also been discontinued. A power lift gate is now standard on all trims.

Jeep's Multi-Displacement System (MDS), which regulates power and fuel efficiency by deactivating cylinders when not necessary, is still available. Standard on Limited and Overland models is a new Leather Appearance Group, which features leather trim on the doors and center console. Chrome accents on the instruments and vents round out the package.

Several technologies--hill descent control, hill start assist, and trailer sway control--are introduced to the model as well. Two new entertainment options also join the lineup. Sirius Backseat TV brings on-screen entertainment for back-seat passengers, and the MyGig Multimedia Infotainment System brings navigation, audio, entertainment, and communication features together, and includes a 20-gigabyte hard drive for music or photo storage. In other changes, a two-row, five-passenger seating layout is now also available, an iPod interface is offered on some models, the steering column now tilts and telescopes, and there's a 115V AC plug. Options have also been realigned into popular packages.

In 2008, Jeepadded enhanced off-road technology to the Commander, including the Hill DescentControl, the Start Assist and the Quadra-Drive II four-wheel-drive system. Anew five-passenger Commander was introduced as well, and the MyGig rear systementertainment center was also introduced. The 2009 Commander featured a morepowerful 5.7-liter V8 engine that got better fuel economy.
IPod connectivitywas also integrated into all trims as was a GPS optional upgrade. The 2010 Commander replaced the 4.7-liter V8 engine, making the more powerful 5.8-literV8 engine the standard displacement. The Sport trim now offered the desirablethird-row and also featured standard fog lights, too.
