The Jaguar S-Type enters its last year of production--it will be replaced by the long anticipated XF model for 2009--with new front-end styling for the 3.0 and 4.2 models, borrowed from the sporty S-Type R. The standard wheel design on all three S-Type models has been upgraded. Also, in the S-Type R, new Satin Mahogany veneers replace the gray-stained Birdseye Maple gloss veneers. The last 750 3.0 and 4.2 models will carry a "Satin Edition" distinction, with matte Satin Mahogany wood veneer trim, a leather wrapped steering wheel, and a chrome- and leather-trimmed shift knob. Only five colors will be available: Ebony, Liquid Silver, Lunar Grey, Radiance, and Porcelain, with two different interior combinations.

The company also added stability control, side curtainand front airbags standard, xenon headlamps, and an optional premium Alpinesound system with a touchscreen voice command system. The 2004 S-Type added adaptive cruise control and anoptional six-speed automatic transmission. In 2005, Jaguar made some minorchanges to the body style, added some new interior options and trims, includingheated seats and walnut trim, and offered 17 wheels as an optional upgrade. In 2006, a new braking system was added as was a new meshgrill insert, in addition to the car also featuring Bluetooth connectivity. The2007 S-Type featured minimal changes and added a few new interior trims as wellas a radar-based cruise control. In 2008, the final production year for thiscar, a few cosmetic changes were made to the models, including larger wheelsfor the V6 (18) and V8 (19) models.
