Honda Civic Type R Model Years and History

The Honda Civic Type R carries over into 2026 with no significant changes expected.

The Civic Type R goes into 2025 with only one difference, a price increase, which probably will not deter anyone from getting a 315-horsepower sporty model.

The Honda Civic carries over with minimal changes for 2024.

After a brief hiatus the Honda Civic Type R returns for 2023.

The Honda Civic rolls into 2021 with minimal changes, however the Si Coupe and Sedan are no longer available.

The 2019 Honda Civic is refreshed for the new year adding a new Sport trim for Sedan and Coupe models. Both feature a refreshed front fascia, an updated HondaLink infotainment system with easier to use controls and is offered in either the 2.0L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder or 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine. The 1.5L engine is no longer available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Honda Sensing is now standard across the entire lineup.

The Honda Civic rolls over into 2018 with no changes.

The biggest news for 2017 is the addition of a new body style in the civic lineup. Previously only available in coupe and sedan body styles, 2017 sees the reintroduction of the famed Civic hatchback. With a steeply raked roofline and rear hatch, the new body style looks extremely sporty and modern. Interior room us up for the hatchback with Honda claiming that it has best in class rear legroom, along with heaps of carrying capacity. A late-model-year addition of an all-new Type R brings a new level of performance aptitude to lineup.
