About Acadia

Renowned as a truck brand, GMC exited their comfort zone slightly with the debut of their Acadia crossover vehicle in 2007. Based on a car-like platform, the GMC Acadia marked the first time since the 1987 Caballero that the marque sold a product not built on a traditional truck frame. A large crossover utility vehicle spanning 201.1 inches in overall length, the 2007 GMC Acadia featured a fully independent suspensions and a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrains. Powering the 2007 Acadia was a gasoline 3.6-liter V-6 producing 275 horsepower connected to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Despite its large size, the 2007 GMC Acadia delivered respectable fuel economy of 18 miles per gallon city and 26 miles per gallon highway with front-wheel drive. Depending on the chosen interior configuration, the Acadia could hold up to eight passengers. Air conditioning, power mirrors, keyless entry as well as an AM/FM stereo system with CD player and MP3 compatibility was standard on all Acadia crossover vehicles. An enhanced 3.6-liter powerplant was dropped into the 2009 Acadia featuring gasoline direct injection technology. Utilizing direct injection, the 2009 GMC Acadia gained 13 horsepower bringing total engine output to 288. In 2011, a high-end luxury Acadia Denali first appeared equipped with HID headlights, 20-inch chrome wheels and seating upholstered with perforated leather.

Receiving revised front and rear styling for 2013, the GMC Acadia was also given LED daytime running lights was part of its new exterior appearance. Inside, a Color Touch radio became standard with optional IntelliLink connectivity. The interior of the 2013 GMC Acadia also introduced the availability of the industry’s first front center airbag.
