About Mustang

First introduced in 1994, the fourth-generation Ford Mustang was based on a chassis similar to one used on the vehicle since 1979. The 1998 Ford Mustang featured standard power from a 3.8-liter V-6 engine. For 1998, performance from the top-rated Modular 4.6-liter V-8 engine generated 225 horsepower (a 10 horsepower increase from the previous model year.) Developing an edgier exterior appearance with more rectangular headlights and taillights, the 1999 Ford Mustang delivered a power bounce for both the V-6 and V-8 engines. The Mustang GT, Mustang Cobra and a Bullitt special edition were some standout models capturing unique performance qualities of the pony car. In 2005, Ford took a back-to-the-future approach in completely restyling the Mustang.

Exterior and interior characteristics of the 2005 Ford Mustang presented a modern interpretation of the first-generation Mustang. Power for the V-6 engine on 2005-2010 Ford Mustangs was rated at 210 horsepower. The 4.6 liter V-8 engine equipped Mustang GT generated 300 horsepower from 2005 to 2009. Officially reuniting with the fifth-generation Mustang, Ford and Shelby together resurrected the Shelby GT500 for the 2007 model year. A design and performance refresh was found on the 2010 model year Ford Mustang. The 2011 Ford Mustang GT received an upgraded V-8 powerplant bored out to 5.0 liters. For 2013, engine power for the Mustang GT reached a 420-horsepower peak. From 1998 to 2014, coupe and convertible versions of the Ford Mustang were actively produced.
