For 2002 and 2003, AdvanceTrac electronic stability control was optional on the Ford Focus. Featuring refreshed front-end styling for 2005, the Ford Focus replaced the SVT model with an ST version. The Ford Focus was once-again restyled in 2008 with only a two-door and four-door model available. The Ford SYNC system was first introduced as an option for the Focus. For the 2012 model year, the North American Ford Focus received a completely new platform and a refined compact car appearance.
A 160-horsepower, direct-injection 2.0-liter engine powered a four-door sedan and five-door hatchback version of the 2012 Ford Focus. The following year, a high-performance Ford Focus ST debuted, cranking out 252 horsepower from a turbocharged engine.
