About F-350
Introduced for 1999, the Ford Super Duty F-350 existed as the one-ton version of the new pickup truck line. Offered as a regular cab, Supercab and Crew Cab, the Dual rear wheel (DRW) model of the 1999 F-350 Super Duty presented greater stability as well as greater payload capacity totaling up to 5,700 pounds. Available with rear-wheel drive as well as four-wheel drive, standard power for the 1999 Ford one-ton truck is derived from a 5.4-liter Triton V-8 engine producing 235 horsepower (power was increased to 260 horsepower in 2000).
Optional power available through the debut year of the Ford Super Duty F-350 DRW also included a 6.8-liter V-10 and a 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel engine. Five-speed and speed-speed manual transmissions offered on the 1999 truck as was a heavy-duty four-speed automatic. Standard equipped for the Super Duty F-350 included four-wheel disc brakes with rear anti-lock braking system and front airbags.
For the 2004 model year, a 6.0-liter Power Stroke engine the Super Duty F-350 DRWs diesel powerplant generating 560 pound-feet of torque. The 2005 Ford Super Duty F-350 DRW featured a refreshed exterior appearance, thicker boxed frame and standard 17-inch wheels. Maintaining similar gasoline engined for 2005, the 5.4-liter V-8 produced 300 horsepower while the V-10 powerplant developed 362 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. Another major charge to the Super Duty F-350 DRW occurred in 2008 with an enlarged grille and the addition of a 6.4-liter Power Stroke diesel engine.
For interior comfort on cold days, an optional Rapid-Heat Supplemental Cab Heater quickly warms the cabin of the one-ton truck. An all-new 2011 Ford Super Duty F-350 DRW was introduced with a tougher look and a revised engine line-up. Conventional towing for the Super Duty F-350 DRW was rated at 17,500 pounds.
