Dodge Grand Caravan Model Years and History

The 2020 Dodge Caravan carries minor changes to the lineup heading into what could be its last year of production. The SE and SXT trims also have an optional Blacktop Package with an exclusive blacked-out appearance that includes 7-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, a Gloss Black grille, black headlamp bezels, an all-black interior, including headliner, door panels and console, premium black cloth seats and door trim panels.

Dodge is celebrating the 35th birthday of the Caravan model line with a special 35th Anniversary package, which will be available on both SE and SXT models. The 35th Anniversary Package gets 17-inch aluminum wheels, extra brightwork around the grille, various badges and an all-black interior with cranberry wine accent stitching around the seats, steering wheel and door trim. The center console is finished in piano black and the floor mats feature an embroidered 35th Anniversary logo.

Dodge Grand Caravan rolls into 2018 with no major changes.

Dodge have simplified the Grand Caravan lineup for 2017. Now consisting of just four different models, the new lineup offers better value and more standard features across the entire range. The Caravan SE for instance, comes in with a base price of over $1000 cheaper than last year's model while retaining the same features. A new GT trim replaces the R/T model from last year, while adding more features at a better value.

The Dodge Caravan enters 2016 with few changes. The only major change is the addition of a Blacktop Package available on SE Plus and SXT trims. Outside, the package adds 17-inch polished aluminum wheels with gloss black pockets, a gloss black crosshair grille, black headlamp bezels and matching fog lamps, while inside there is an all-black interior with silver accent stitching and matching leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Dodge Caravan is largely unchanged entering into 2015. The only major change is the addition of a Plus Package available on SE and SXT trims. The plus package adds various popular optional items to the Grand Caravan, improving exterior looks with new wheels while simultaneously improving interior appointments through the use of nicer materials and addition of several amenities.

For 2014, the Dodge Grand Caravan drops the Crew trim, while adding a 30th Anniversary Edition to celebrate the minivan's history. Otherwise, the Grand Caravan is largely unchanged.

The only notable change for 2013 is to the optional rear-seat entertainment system, which has now been updated with the ability to play Blu-ray movies.

A new entry-level American Value Package helps to drive the price of admission to below $21,000. The trims have gotten a bit of a revision, and are named the SE, SXT, Crew and R/T.

The 2011 Grand Caravan gets a lineup revamp as well as a new set drivetrains.

The 2010 Grand Caravan carries on virtually the same, and is scheduled for a redesign in 2011.

Following a redesign in 2008, the Grand Caravan returns for 2009 with few changes. Braking has been improved on both SE and SXT models. The SXT model gets a sportier suspension and an iPod adapter has been added to the optional UConnect phone system. The SE trim gets standard Stow 'n Go seating with stain-resistant seat fabric, as well as cruise control, an improved instrument cluster, three rows of power seats, and some other minor upgrades. Blind spot monitoring, Rear Cross Path sensing, and rain-sensitive wipers are now options.

For 2008, the shorter-length Dodge Caravan has been dropped from the lineup, leaving the longer Grand Caravan model, which has been completely redesigned for 2008. The Grand Caravan has an all-new look inside and out, more powerful engines, an innovative Swivel 'n Go seating system, and new entertainment features.

Next year, the Dodge Caravan will be completely redesigned. The 2007 Caravan models go into their last model year with no significant changes. There are two new exterior colors, Modern Blue Pearl Coat and Marine Blue Pearl Coat.
