About SS

The first rear-wheel drive Chevrolet sedan available to the public since 1996, the SS debuted as a new performance-tailored four-door for the 2014 model year. Powered by a 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 engine, 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque moves the 2014 SS. Derived from a sedan sold in Australia and sharing a platform with the Caprice PPV police car, the Chevrolet SS was styled for the sport-minded driver. The front appearance of the sport sedan features HID headlights, LED daytime running lights and an aluminum hood featuring a slight “power bulge”. Ultra-high performance Bridgestone tires surround 19-inch wheels on the Chevrolet sedan. Optimized to achieve near 50/50 weight distribution, the 2014 Chevrolet SS operates with electric power steering and front Brembo disc brakes. The 415-horsepower V-8 engine of the 2014 Chevrolet SS delivers power to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission with manual gear selection abilities using TAPshift paddles. Eight-cylinder power allows the large Chevrolet sport sedan to achieve a 0 to 60-mile per hour in roughly five seconds. Effectively communicating its performance capabilities in motion, the five-passenger interior of the Chevrolet SS relays a feel of premium sport sedan comfort. Along with the dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-upholstered front bucket seats with additional side bolstering are heated and ventilated provides a relaxing feeling. Nine-speaker Bose 220-watt sound system, remote start, heads-up display and Chevrolet MyLink with eight-inch touchscreen are standard on the 2014 Chevrolet SS. The 2014 SS sedan was the first Chevrolet to offer Automatic Parking Assist that controls steering input when parking. The addition of Magnetic Ride Control to the 2015 Chevrolet SS adds greater handling refinement while an available six-speed manual transmission provides a purer sport driving experience. Intended to be a low-volume production vehicle, the Chevrolet SS has also been a shape seen on the track in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series.
