Generating the equivalent of 140 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, the electric motor of the Spark EV is more powerful than the 1.2-liter gasoline powerplant propelling the conventional Chevrolet Spark. The 2014 Spark EV’s top speed of 90 miles per hour makes it more than adequate for highway driving. With the lithium-ion battery and the use of regenerative braking, the range of the vehicle is rated at 82 miles on a single charge. Along with standard 120-volt and 240-volt charging ports, an optional DC fast charging solution exists for the Spark EV that replenishes the battery’s energy to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.
Six-speaker sound system operating on Chevrolet MyLink through a seven-inch touchscreen combines Bluetooth and Siri Eyes Free technology. Ten airbags, heated front cloth seats, cruise control, anti-lock braking system and remote start were all included on the 2014 Spark EV at no additional cost. The United States release of the Chevrolet Spark EV has remained remote to the state of California and Oregon through 2014 and 2015.
