Cadillac CT6 Model Years and History

The 2020 Cadillac CT6 gets a significant price bump this year and now only offers two engine options, a 3.6L V6 and a 4.2 twin-turbo V8. The 2.0L and 3.0L engine options from 2019 are no longer offered. Luxury trim vehicles now come standard with the Driver Awareness package that includes Lane Keep Assist, Blind-zone Monitoring and automatic braking systems. The also now-standard Convivence package includes heated front seats, a power sunroof and integrated navigation.

The CT6 gets a new high-performance model added to the trim lineup for 2019. Dubbed the CT6 V-Sport, the new trim level gets a massively powerful twin-turbo V8, sending over 600 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The CT6 V-sport also gets uprated suspension, a 10-speed automatic and summer tires, ensuring that it will handle, in addition to going incredibly fast in a straight line.

As we cruise into 2018 the CT6 gets upgrades mostly to its technology and convenience features. With over-the-air updates, a revised interface and an automated parking assist that now incorporates pedal operation the CT6 takes steps forward. They've also added front seat ventilation, heated steering wheel controls that can be set automatically and a washer for the rearview camera.

After its introduction last year, Cadillac could have left the CT6 alone. However, this year they've outdone themselves with a new plug-in hybrid version of the car. Powered by a pair of electric motors combined with a turbocharged 4-cylinder, the CT6 hybrid should be both fast and frugal. With about 30 miles of range in pure electric mode, the CT6 hybrid should use virtually no fuel for quick trips to the grocery store, or jaunts around town. However, with a claimed 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds, the CT6 plug-in hybrid should still feel plenty fast when the time calls for it.

The Cadillac CT6 is a brand-new car for Cadillac, it is positioned as the most expensive and most luxurious sedan in their lineup. Despite its size, Cadillac built the CT6 to be no slouch dynamically, and through advanced construction techniques, the CT6 actually manages to be lighter than just about anything in its class. This lightness pays dividends down the line with handling, acceleration and fuel economy numbers that are pretty surprising for a car of its size.
