For 2021, the BMW X2 receives a few updates including standard SiriusXM satellite radio, a optional new Edition M Mesh appearance package which includes mesh grille, M Sport seats, unique wheels, black exterior trim. The M35i trim receives a new mesh grille design and the Dynamic Handling package for non-M models has been discontinued. LED fog lamps are no longer offered.

After the introduction of the M35i model last year, the BMW X2 gets no major updates for 2020.

The BMW X2 features a brand-new addition to the lineup this year with the X2 M35i. The model's performance upgrade yields additional horsepower and torque, the very first front-axle mounted M-Sport limited-slip differential, a larger turbocharger and launch control.
