Historically revered as an icon in performance engineering, Lotus has faced a dwindling image for their new vehicles within the North American market in recent years. After a brief hiatus from American road cars in 2015, British sports car builder Lotus returned in 2016 with the 2017 model year Evora 400. The only street-legal Lotus sold in the United States for 2017, the mid-engined Lotus Evora 400 evolves on the previous incarnation of the model. Weight savings along with a 400-horsepower, supercharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine is incorporated in the sports car allows the exploration of greater performance horizons. Acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds and a 186-mile per hour top speed is possible with the Lotus Evora 400. Like the previous Evora, the 2017 model is offered with a two-passenger or a 2+2 seat cabin.
