2014 Volkswagen Ratings, Reviews and Awards
Volkswagen’s annual lineup is never less than impressive, but the company seemed to have even broken its mold for the 2014 model year, handing over significant makeovers to the Golf, Beetle, Passat, and several other top vehicles. A new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine replaced the previous 5-cylinder engine in the Passat, which also got a standard rearview camera on some trims plus an optional enhanced telematics system. The Beetle received some repackaged trim levels, plus a new GSR, a limited-edition trim with an exclusive black and yellow paint job and sport seating. New to the Golf was a 4-door body style across all trims after the 2-door version was discontinued, while the Jetta saw a new turbocharged 4-cylinder take the place of its larger engine with less power. Volkswagen put significant focus on the Tiguan, gifting some trim levels with a standard surround parking system and adding the X Special Edition trim for the Tiguan’s 10th birthday.
