The Maybach 62 made its debut in 2004, offering a German engineered ultra-luxury mega-car that was designed to directly compete with the popular
Rolls-Royce Phantom. It boasted impeccable design and style, uncanny hordes of premium features, and was powered by a 5.5-liter V12 engine that was rated at 543 horsepower (updated a few years later to 604 hp). While no changes were made for 2005, the 2006 model offered a standard Parking Assist System (previously pegged as an optional add-on). The newly introduced Business Package turned the car into a mobile executives office. No changes were made for the 2007 or 2008 model years. But in
2009, the Maybach 62 Landaulet debuted, flaunting a retractable roof in the rear (as a limited edition model). In 2010, Bluetooth integration for rear passengers was added, and various options, like an electro-transparent rear, were offered to buyers. The 2011 model year got an additional 16 horsepower, increasing the new total to 604 hp. Optional add-ons for this year included privacy glass and a 19 flat screen HDTV in the rear. The luxury mega-car saw major changes in 2012.
