2004 model year updates to the BMW luxury vehicle range are led by a new 5 Series sedan. Resembling the 7 Series in exterior style, the new sedan is offered in 525i, 530i and 545i versions. Improved safety and BMW's iDrive controller is found inside all 2004 BMW 5 Series models. BMW also introduces new all-new models for 2004 filling the premium two-door and crossover segment. Based on the platform used by the 5 Series, the two-door 6 Series now offers BMW enthusiasts a chance to upgrade beyond the 3 Series coupe. Diversifying their crossover line, BMW has added an X3 to complement the existing X5. A smaller xDrive-equipped crossover vehicle, the 2004 BMW X3 are lower-priced but well-equipped. The new addition to the BMW crossover line-up is joined by a redesigned X5 in 2004. A new design for the 2004 BMW X5 is accompanied by a more potent 4.8-liter V-8.
