The C70 saw nominal changes for the 1998 model year, butVolvo added a light-pressure turbocharged engine to the coupe in 1999, with aslim new addition of standard equipment. In 2000, Volvo released the newhigh-pressure turbo (HPT) convertible and made subtle updates to the C70 lineup. The C70 Coupe light-pressure turbo (LPT), was dropped for 2001, new 16and 17 wheels debuted, simulated wood replaced real wood interior accents andminor updates were made to upper trim levels. For 2002, only one trim wasoffered for the C70 coupe with stability control, traction control, heatedfront seats and an emergency trunk release handle being added as standardfeatures.
In 2003, the C70 was only offered in convertible format, allpowertrains got a decent power boost, a jeweled effect was added to thetaillights, and the front grille was darkened. No major changes were in store for 2004, with a shorthiatus for 2005. In 2006, Volvo unveiled a sleeker and more capable, morefeature-rich four-seat C70 with a retractable hardtop. The addition ofsatellite radio, MP3 integration and an input jack on the audio system markedthe only changes for 2005. The C70 got a horsepower boost, up to 227 hp from218, for 2008, with new wood accents, and an updated steering wheel and airvents. Bluetooth integration was made standard in 2009, with express-up windowsand an improved GPS system.
Nothing was new for 2010, but an updated exterior,new instrument panel and standard leather seating and satellite radio were thebig changes for 2011. Shuffling of trims was the theme for the 2012-2013 modelyears, with automated wipers and headlight washers being added as standardfeatures.
