Most sports car's back seats are suitable for children or storage and not much else. Mazda's 2007 RX-8 breaks the sports car mold by offering real back seat capacity for two adults. Access to the rear seats is made easy by "free style" rear opening doors. Engine performance is brought by a naturally-aspirated 1.3L rotary engine making 232 horsepower at 8500 rpm (212 horsepower at 7500 rpm with the automatic transmission) and 159 lb-ft of torque at 5500 rpm. More impressive is the nimble and direct handling, due in part to its perfect 50/50 front/rear weight balance. Pricing begins at $26,435 for the Sport model (manual or auto), $29,535 for the manual Touring model or $30,335 for the Touring model with automatic transmission. Pricing for the Grand Touring model starts at $31,070 for the manual and $31,770 for the automatic.
