Most Reliable 2016 Crossovers and SUVs
Each year, J.D. Power surveys thousands of verified new- and used-car owners, asking them about what has gone right, what has gone wrong, what they like, and what they dislike about their vehicles. The information is used to measure a variety of individual factors related to vehicle dependability, quality, and overall appeal, among others. The data is also used to calculate Power Circle Ratings.
Based on the company's Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and Initial Quality Study (IQS) data, J.D. Power predicts how reliable new cars, trucks, and SUVs are likely to be in the future. For models that are new to the market, the company also examines historical performance of that model or brand in order to make an accurate reliability prediction.
Listed on the pages that follow, in alphabetical order, are the top-rated non-luxury crossovers and SUVs in terms of predicted reliability, according to J.D. Power. The ratings for each model reflect how the subject model measures up against its direct competitors in that market segment, and is not reflective of how it compares with all models contained in this guide.
