Top 5 Large SUVs by Customer Satisfaction

Jack R. Nerad | Jul 22, 2020

In an ongoing quest to determine how satisfying each vehicle is to its owners, J.D. Power asks thousands of verified vehicle owners to describe in detail how their cars, trucks, and SUVs perform for them. The information car owners provide is reflective of their first 90 days of ownership, and that information forms the bedrock of three industry benchmark studies. The yearly Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study (APEAL) gives a very good indication of how owners feel about driving their vehicles.

Information gathered about each model from its owners is combined and analyzed to build an index that ranks every vehicle for which there is a sufficient sample of opinions. In the APEAL Study, the higher the index number, the better the vehicle has been in satisfying its owners' needs and desires. A top-five rank on the APEAL index is indicative of a vehicle that does a good job in satisfying its owners across several important factors.

In this post, the five highest-rated 2020 large SUVs for customer satisfaction are identified and ranked according to information provided by the consumers who own them. The models are listed in rank order with the most satisfying vehicle listed first, followed by the others in descending order. The average index score for the segment is 862.
