Each year, the company surveys tens of thousands of verified new vehicle owners to find out what they think of their cars, trucks, and SUVs by asking in-depth questions about design, quality, comfort, usefulness, performance, and more. The data J.D. Power collects forms the basis of several benchmark automotive industry studies that measure automotive customer satisfaction.

One of them, the Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study, measures how happy people are with their new vehicles across a variety of emotion-related variables.
