Power 2015 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.SM

Infiniti QX50

The Infiniti QX50 achieves the highest overall score in the 2015 U.S. APEAL Study among men in the 30-59 age range who consider themselves practical buyers. For 2016, the 5-seat premium midsize SUV gets 4 more inches of rear legroom. The QX50 is powered by a 3.7-liter V-6 engine that makes 325 horsepower and 267 lb.-ft. of torque that is mated with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Loaded with amenities and safety features—including an advanced air bag system and rear-seat child safety features—the QX50 offers comfort and audiophile sound packages.

Infiniti Q40

No longer in the lineup, the Infiniti Q40 premium midsize car, formerly the G37, earns high scores for performance, made possible in part by a V-6 engine mated with a 7-speed automatic transmission that produces 328 horsepower. Quick to accelerate with precise handling, the 5-seat Q40 features upscale cabin features and an array of safety systems, including night vision, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning. The 2017 Q30 premium compact hatchback debuts this year as a replacement.

Audi A8

The interior of the QX80, which achieves the same overall score as the Audi A8, delights male buyers. Three-row seating is comfortable, and audio sound is appreciated by its buyers. Leather and wood attracts indulgent male owners. Scores for the QX80 in the interior and seats categories of the study were some of the highest among our profiled group.

Land Rover Range Rover

Brawny luxury describes the Land Rover Range Rover premium large SUV that seats 5 in penthouse style. Power comes from a supercharged V-6 engine that generates 340 horsepower with an 8-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive. A new turbodiesel and a supercharged 550-horsepower V-8 are optional. A capable off- and on-road hauler, the Range Rover averages 29 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. For safety, an advanced Vision Assist package is available as is a towing package.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. A 6.0-in. color display is the core of the infotainment system.

Kia Sedona

Kia’s Sedona midsize van delights dads with sporty, rugged looks and a family-centric cabin. The Sedona seats 8 and has such safety options as blind-spot monitoring and rear camera.
