The Pacifica minivan is the Chrysler brand's dominant vehicle, and as March began Chrysler launched a special promotion around it with a benevolent, family-oriented theme. For each Pacifica sold through the end of the school year, Chrysler would donate funds to provide up to 500 meals to kids in need.

For the promotion, Chrysler is working in tandem with No Kid Hungry, a campaign of Share Our Strength. Chrysler's goal is to provide up to 10 million meals to children suffering hunger and poverty, which translates to 20,000 minivan sales. Now, the coronavirus pandemic has made the No Kid Hungry effort more important than ever. In association with its charitable component, the campaign offers strong incentives on the purchase of a new Chrysler Pacifica

Chrysler is also participating in the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) "Drive Forward" initiative unveiled on April 1, 2020. They include coronavirus car payment plans for recent Chrysler customers who might need leeway with making payments, special financing offers for new customers, and deferred initial payments for new-car buyers, all giving Chrysler customers a new way to buy a car…or minivan.

Chrysler Capital and Ally Financial are the finance partners for a typical Chrysler dealer, funding the lion's share of consumer leases and new-car loans. Now, with record unemployment numbers and other financial hardships rippling through the country, both Chrysler Capital and Ally Financial are offering payment relief options to consumers affected by the pandemic's far-reaching effects.

Chrysler Capital is offering its customers potential help on a case-by-case basis. To learn their options, the company's customers are urged to talk to a representative by phone at 855-563-5635. Currently, call volume is leading to lengthy wait times, but getting personal questions answered is the best way to come to a successful resolution of individual issues.

Depending upon each person's circumstances, Ally Financial auto loan customers can defer payment for up to 120 days. No late fees will be charged, but finance charges will accrue over that time period. Ally customers are advised to contact Ally Auto customer care at 1-888-925-2559 to initiate the process and learn their options.

For Chrysler customers who didn't lease or finance their vehicle through Chrysler Capital or Ally Financial, the best advice is to contact their lender or leasing company directly and discuss their circumstances. Many lenders are willing to assist with various payment options that include payment deferral.

Chrysler New Car Incentives - Find the best deals!

For minivan shoppers, the Chrysler Pacifica Family Pricing campaign offers some compelling features. First, it is a one-price promotion, which means customers don't have to resort to negotiation to get the best discount. Second, it also includes 0% APR financing for 72 months on every 2020 model year Pacifica. Third, buyers can defer their first payments for up to 120 days.

As part of FCA's "Drive Forward" initiative, buyers can get 0% APR financing on loans for the Chrysler 300 and Chrysler Voyager, and both models are also eligible for the 120-day deferred first payment program. All Chrysler programs are currently slated to end on June 1, 2020.

For those who are fearful or just unable to visit a Chrysler dealership, the just-created Online Retail Experience allows customers to complete the entire vehicle purchase process online. Vehicle trade-in, credit application, and price and payment negotiation are all available without ever entering a showroom. Consumers can also arrange with participating dealers to have their vehicles delivered to their homes.

FCA has closed all of its U.S. and Canadian manufacturing plants, including the plants that build Chrysler cars and minivans. Approximately 68,000 manufacturing employees are idled by the production suspensions. At the same time, most Chrysler dealers are open for both sales and service. Self-quarantining plus state and local restrictions on personal interaction led to a sharp drop in auto sales in March and a steeper decline in April. FCA reported a 10% decline in U.S. sales during the first quarter of 2020, contributing to a reported $1.9 billion loss for the company. However, an impending merger with France’s PSA Group is reportedly still on track. Once complete, a merged FCA and PSA will become the world’s fourth largest automaker.

In contrast to a pre-virus forecast of 16.9 million sales in 2020, J.D. Power's most recent 2020 outlook for total vehicle sales is 12.6 to 14.5 million units.
