Changes to the 2022 Lexus Models

Liz Kim | Dec 02, 2021

Lexus strides into 2022 with all-new iterations of the NX and LX. Both SUVs feature the new Lexus Interface infotainment system, including cloud capability and over-the-air updates, which will roll out across all Lexus models in the coming years. Further, the NX offers Lexus’ first-ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant.

It also gets the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert as standard equipment across the lineup. Also, F Sport models powered by the internal-combustion engine (ICE) get an optional Dynamic Handling package, while an F Sport appearance package debuts for the ES 300h hybrid.

The Lexus IS was all-new for 2021, so the 2022 model year sees minor changes for the IS 300 and IS 350 F Sport. A new Premium package debuts for the IS 300, a Memory package is new for the IS 350 F Sport, and some minor feature content revisions are in store for other trim levels. However, enthusiasts should be atwitter with the all-new 2022 IS 500, which packs a 472-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine, exclusive 19-inch wheels, and suspension upgrades.

For 2022, whether you choose the coupeconvertible, or hybrid form, Lexus’ flagship sports car receives suspension enhancements to increase handling performance. If you opt for the Sport package, you’ll enjoy the presence of 21-inch forged alloy wheels with a polished finish, along with a Torsen limited-slip differential and Yamaha performance dampers. You’ll also see a Bespoke Build option for the coupe and hybrid that allows you to customize the roof, wheels, and spoiler, along with exclusive interior and exterior colors and trims.

The luxurious LS full-size sedan soldiers on into 2022 with slight revisions to the suspension for more smoothness and standard Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 across the board. Other changes are minor, such as the availability of the Mark Levinson audio system that you can now get on the base LS 500. The LS is still available in two flavors: base and F Sport, each with the option of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

2022 Lexus LX Changes - Find the best Lexus deals!

Lexus’ big, luxe sport-ute is all-new from the ground up for 2022, and as we haven’t seen a new one since the third-generation LX was introduced more than 14 years ago, we’re looking forward to learning more. Powering the Lexus LX 600 is a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 409 hp and 479 pound-feet of torque and is chock full of the latest infotainment and safety technology and high-end design.

Upon its introduction, five trim levels bedeck the LX: Standard, Premium, Luxury, F Sport, and Ultra Luxury. The first three come with three rows for 7-passenger capacity, while the sumptuous Ultra Luxury comes with second-row captain’s chairs and no third row, which transforms this big SUV into a 4-passenger vehicle.

complete redesign is on tap for the Lexus NX compact SUV, which is bigger in almost every dimension than the 2021 version. New engines debut, with gas-powered ones in the NX 250 and 350, a hybrid engine in the NX 350h, and, new for the NX, the plug-in hybrid NX 450h with a 36-mile electric-only range. Also, new infotainment features abound under the umbrella of Lexus Interface. The NX benefits from Lexus Safety System+ 3.0—a collection of the latest safety and advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) technology.

2022 Lexus RC Changes - Find the best Lexus deals!

Not many changes are in store for the svelte RC coupe, which still comes in RC 300, RC 350, and high-performance RC F variants. The RC F sees a new Fuji Speedway Edition that uses carbon fiber trim pieces, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and a titanium exhaust. Lexus says this reduces zero-to-60 mph acceleration runs from 4.2 seconds to 3.96 seconds.

2022 Lexus RX Changes - Find the best Lexus deals!

Few changes are in store for the perennially popular RX midsize crossover, with fog lamps making the standalone options list, along with some new exterior paint color choices. Otherwise, the RX goes into 2022 with the same 350 and 450h hybrid variant we saw last year.

2022 Lexus UX Changes - Find the best Lexus deals!

Aside from a few new paint color choices and visual effects, such as optional painted fender liners, not much is new for Lexus’ subcompact UX crossover in 2022. It still comes in ICE and hybrid form and is as snug inside and out as it was last year.
